Eric Miklin is Assistant Professor of Austrian Politics in Comparative European Perspective in the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the University of Salzburg, Austria. Miklin holds a Doctorate from the University of Vienna, Austria (2008). In addition, he was a scholarship recipient/junior researcher at the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna from 2004-2008, where he completed the post-graduate program ‘European Integration’. Prior to joining the University of Salzburg, Eric Miklin was Postdoc Fellow at the Free University Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he was engaged in the integrated research project ‘Reconstituting Democracy in Europe’ (www.reconproject.eu) from 2008 to 2010. His recent publications and conference presentations focus on the comparative analysis of EU-related policy-processes in Austria and other member states and especially on the role of (national) parliaments and parties in this regard.

    Professor Dr. Helmut J. Schmidt, President of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and member of the Uni-Council of Salzburg University, received the "Rector / President of the Year" award, presented for the seventh time by the Deutsche Hochschulverband (DHV).
    The Uni-Salzburg Centre of Science and Art offers a lecture series which is open to the public on Wednesdays starting 4 March and continuing to 24 June, 2015. Unipark Nonntal, Hörsaal E.002, 18:00.
    Anna Helene Laimer, BSc, MSc, received the Hans-Stegbuchner Prize for outstanding academic achievements. She was awarded the prize for her Master's thesis, "Lower Estimates for the Lebesgue Functions".
    Prof. Dr. Klaus Hock will speak on "Islam in the African Context". Lectures are offered by the Centre for Intercultural Theology and Study of Religions.
    Professor Werner Paar, Department of Physics and Materials Research, received an honorary doctorate from the University of Salta, Argentina, during a ceremony in late November 2014. The hosts were the Rector and Dean of the University of Salta.
    Researchers from Cambridge, Münster and Salzburg Forensic Medicine, under the supervision of Professors Franz Neuhuber and Bernd Brinkmann, examined the genomes of teenagers and their children and presented an increased susceptibility to errors.
    Five modules between late February and late May 2015 will be held on specific Saturdays from 9:30 until 17:30 in Seminar Room KommEnt (Kieselgebäude).
