Eric Miklin is Assistant Professor of Austrian Politics in Comparative European Perspective in the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the University of Salzburg, Austria. Miklin holds a Doctorate from the University of Vienna, Austria (2008). In addition, he was a scholarship recipient/junior researcher at the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna from 2004-2008, where he completed the post-graduate program ‘European Integration’. Prior to joining the University of Salzburg, Eric Miklin was Postdoc Fellow at the Free University Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he was engaged in the integrated research project ‘Reconstituting Democracy in Europe’ ( from 2008 to 2010. His recent publications and conference presentations focus on the comparative analysis of EU-related policy-processes in Austria and other member states and especially on the role of (national) parliaments and parties in this regard.

    Salzburg University Professor Rolf Ostheim had his 90th birthday on 24 April, 2015. He was a Professor of Civil and Commercial Law at the Law Faculty of the University of Salzburg from 1968 until his retirement in 1993. Professor Ostheim’s many scientific publications are characteristic his of special care; in fact, often, the legislature has adopted the proposals developed by Ostheim.
    Ernst Wangermann was born in 1925 in Vienna, at the age of 14 immigrated to England, studied at Balliol College, Oxford University, 1953 PhD on the so-called Jacobin conspiracy in Austria.

    VaKE ... what has happened so far - how can it progress? An event of the Department of Education.
    As part of the Day of Teaching, the University of Salzburg presented awards for outstanding teaching. From a total of 39 submissions, the Jury selected three introductory seminars and one lecture.
    This summer semester, the University of Salzburg and the University of Linz are offering the joint lecture series, "Disability Studies", which will take place in Salzburg 8-9 May and in Linz 29-30 May, 2015. Researchers and cultural workers present from current work and deal with the phenomenon of disability in the context of participation, inclusion, representation, art and cultural forms in Austria.
    Kurt-Zopf Prize – Call for 2015 Thanks to a generous bequest by Mr. Kurt Zopf, who bestowed upon the University of Salzburg a yearly endowment of 10.000, - EUR, it is time again for the open call for recipient(s) of the Kurt Zopf Prize. This award is given for internationally renowned publication achievements of research staff members from the University of Salzburg.
    On 31 March, 2015, the ceremonial handing over of the "Iconotheca Valvasoriana", one of the most important early Baroque graphic collections took place.
    As part of an official state visit to Austria of the Armenian Minister of Science and Education in early April, a delegation also came to the University of Salzburg. They visited the Department of Armenology at the Centre for Research of the Christian East and held discussions with representatives of our university.
    For outstanding theses in the field of natural sciences, Vera was Esser and Maria Österbauer were awarded the Marie-Andessner prize.
